About Todd

My name is Todd Gamel and I am the host of the Keto Confidential podcast. I worked in the restaurant industry for 18 years where I earned three Associate Degrees in Applied Science (AAS) in Culinary Arts, Baking And Pastry, and Food And Hospitality Management. Fourteen years ago I left the restaurant industry and joined the medical community as a registered nurse, and have worked the last 10 years in a level one trauma center.

Diagnosed three years ago as a type II diabetic (insulin resistant), I was unable to control my blood sugars and had to be placed on more and more medication to combat my disease. Eventually the medication I was taking for my diabetes made me so sick I had to visit the emergency room. It was at this point in my life that I knew I had to make some changes. So I started doing some research and decided to take control of my health before I became one of the patients that I took care of everyday in the intensive care unit. So together my wife and I devised a plan to take control of my type 2 diabetes.

I have been on a ketogenic diet for the last 18 months and have lost more than 80 pounds. I am no longer taking insulin, or any medication for high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Essentially, I have reversed, or as my endocrinologist stated “cured my diabetes”. If you want to learn the basics of how to start this way of eating (WOE), then this podcast will give you the tools and information to help you cut through all of the conflicting information and personal agendas that tend to plague the many ketogenic facebook sites and ketogenic blogs.

It is my goal to share with everyone how you can reverse your type 2 diabetes through diet alone. If you want to add some exercise once your get fat adapted and have more energy, then great! But you do not have to exercise to lose weight on a ketogenic diet. Let’s face it, there are no magic pills out there that can do for you what the ketogenic diet can. For me personally controlling my diabetes was the primary focus of choosing this way of eating (WOE). The weight loss was an added benefit, one that I appreciate beyond measure. My goal is to publish a new 30 to 40 minute podcast once a week. I hope that you will find the information from the ‘Keto Confidential Podcast’ beneficial. If you have any friends or family members that are struggling with controlling their type 2 diabetes then please take the time to share this information with them so that together we can help them to eradicate type 2 diabetes from their life. Don’t forget to sign up for our email list and or subscribe to our e-mail podcast so that you will not miss any of my new episodes.
